2017
Bashel walks into her first class at Binghamton University after transferring from Baruch College and sits in the only available seat in the lab. She looks to her right and notices that her lab partner is kind of cute!
“Hey, I’m Dan!” He said with a smile.
Unfortunately for her, Bashel had participated in a tour of the local bars the night before and wasn’t feeling or looking her best.
To this day, when Bashel asks Dan if he feels it was love at first sight, he’ll say, “Not really… you looked quite awful.”
2018-2019
In the following two years Bashel and Daniel remained friends. Occasionally getting dinner or catching a new movie. Bashel changed her major to Graphic Design, so their classes no longer overlapped, but they stayed in touch.
Then, one chilly Binghamton October, Bashel was bored. She thought, how can I be entertained? Who can entertain me? Fortunately for Dan, he was the first person to come to mind.
Over the following few months, Bashel would text Dan… a lot…
Dan would ask his friends, “Hey, do you think she’s interested in dating?”
“Definitely not.” They would respond earnestly.
There is no photographic evidence from this era, you’re just going to have to take our word for it. Here are photos of Bella and Albus for your viewing pleasure.
2020
Not sure if you heard of the events of 2020, but interestingly enough, there was a worldwide shut down due to a global pandemic called “Covid-19”. Bashel and Dan’s first official date happened to be one week before.
They continued to date as all other modern couples do–Facetime and texting around the clock. Around two months into the shut down, the following conversation occurs:
Bashel: I have been telling people that you’re my boyfriend, by the way.
Daniel: Oh, I’ve been telling people that you’re my girlfriend.
Bashel: Cool.
And the rest is, as they say, history.
2020-2026
A lot can happen in six years, and we’re not writing a romance novel, so to save some time, here are our top favorite things that happened
2021
There was a lot of celebrating this year as the pandemic was ending and the world opened up. Talia and Matt got married (Check out our The People section to learn more), outings to the Brooklyn Mirage (may they rest in peace), and a last minute trip to Miami after our trip to Colorado got mysteriously canceled (Dan got Covid.)
2022
Adriel and Abby got married in California in May. We took the opportunity to road trip down route one in a Mustang. From San Francisco, to Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Santa Barbara and finally, Los Angeles. Our first big trip together is still one of our favorites, so far.
2023
After a few years of mid distance commuting an hour+ to each other every weekend, and working some soul sucking jobs, this is the year things finally started falling into place for us. We both started new jobs, and we moved in together into our dream apartment in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
2024
Our first year living in Brooklyn together feels like an early 2000s Romantic Comedy montage. Dancing in the living room, dinner parties with our friends and families, long walks in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Dan getting stuck in the elevator twice and getting rescued by some strong and handsome firefighters. Losing the several hour commute between Nanuet and Long Island allowed us more time to focus on our individual crafts: music and art.
2025
“Let’s go on a trip! Let’s go to Barcelona!” Bashel said. “Okay, but I am not proposing in Barcelona, just so you know.” Dan said. Anyway, we got engaged in Barcelona. It was a beautiful year of celebrating love; ours and our loved ones. Our engagement party in the Lubarsky backyard was the best start to the wedding planning journey, and celebrating Eric and Amanda’s wedding in Antigua was a nice break.
